Hello,
My name is Carter Cox. I am a junior here at Washington State University double majoring in communication technologies and multimedia journalism. I am from Sammamish, Washington.
I chose to study communications because I love writing and I thought the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication was a great fit. I also love studying digital media and its impacts on popular culture. Outside of classes, I have an internship with WSU’s College of Education working as a communications coordinator. For this job, I have been working under the college’s Director of Marketing and Communications to manage the college’s website and social media platforms. Along with my job, I am also a student ambassador for the Murrow College.
When I am not in class or working, I am watching sports, finding new movies, or playing video games with my friends. I can always be entertained while watching mostly anything sports related, particularly with football. I closely follow the Seattle Seahawks, the Seattle Mariners, and WSU’s football team. While being a full-time student and intern, some weeks can be stressful. To de-stress, I love to watch new movies or play video games with my roommates. I enjoy these activities since they require very little energy but are always entertaining. However, I also believe it is important to add in some physical activity to my daily schedule. I enjoy going to the Chinook student center on campus or sign-up for intramural sports seasons.
I am excited to take this course because I believe I can learn some new skills that will immediately help me at my job, especially working with mobile media on a daily basis. By the end of the semester, I hope to learn new mobile media engagement tactics and become more confident with posting on various mobile media channels.
